• A vegetation fire near the Battlement Mesa Golf Course in Colorado prompted evacuation orders for residents in the Battlement Mesa Golf and Battlement Creek Village neighborhoods on July 5,
• The fire, initially reported as a power pole fire, quickly spread and grew to an estimated 15 acres by 7:42 p.m. MDT, according to the Watch Duty fire tracking app. Residents along County Road 309 from Battlement Mesa to Rullison were advised to prepare for potential evacuation. County Road 301 was reopened to traffic, but only for exiting the area, as confirmed by the Grand Valley Fire Protection District. By 10:25 p.m. MDT, evacuation orders were lifted, and residents of The Reserve/Battlement Mesa Village were allowed to return home. Fire crews are continuing to monitor the situation overnight.
